Do you know how many people we had in the store yesterday looking for HP stuff?
Dozens. It gets on your nerves after awhile it does.

And freakin 50/60's costumes. Some local sports team was having a big fundraising dance tonight and the theme was 50's/60's. So it's been nothing but poodle skirts, poodle skirts and more poodle skirts.

I shouldn't complain about that though. That bit is easy cause they're all in one section and more or less self-explanatory so I don't have to do that much hand holding. The fact that we don't really have any guys 50's stuff besides Elvis (or really really small black leather jackets) is more problematic.

And I felt proud of myself. I got a bunch of old Sherlock Holmes audio plays from the library the other day and this afternoon I solved one a whole 15 minutes before Holmes did. Elementary my dear Sherlock ;)

Ohhhhhh! If I thought Vic was cool before he's even cooler now! He his fans a very special present. Unfortunately I can't say anymore (even though I'm bursting to do so!) because I had to promise not too :(

You obviously forgot IT was coming out at midnight?

Oh no - I knew it was coming out. I knew very well why they were in the store. That didn't make it any less annoying though.

Mainly because although I didn't forget, Scott did (or else assumed it wouldn't be that big a deal) and so we hadn't restocked any HP stuff (like glasses and scarves etc). Therefore the only HP stuff we had were $40 robes which were either too small for the adults who needed to wear them at Chapters and so forth (but that was fine since most of them just rented judges robes and witch hats) or too expensive for the parents who just wanted a quick trinket for their kids to wear to the premiere.

Either way I was stuck being "not very helpful"

They actually told you that you were "not very helpful"? o.O

Well, to them - who the hell waits until the DAY OF THE RELEASE to dress up, and expect that the most decent costume shop in town would still HAVE HP STUFF? Gah, some people.

And I'm sick of it too... and it's not even coming out in Japan! Seriously!

Um, that seriously comment is more along the lines of "Seriously, people! get a grip!" not "It's really not coming out here ever". I just mean it's not coming out here NOW, and so I'm not surrounded by HP stuff, but I'm still sick of it.

Sorry to blather in your LJ.

No, no one actually told me that I was "not very helpful".

Actually the most annoying person was a woman who came in with a friend and wanted stuff and so asked about the rentals. So I said "Well we've been renting judges' robes to most of the adults who come in - with a robe and a witch's hat you'd look just a teacher from Harry Potter"

She said that she didn't want to spend a lot of money so I replied that the judges robe was probably the best bet since it was only $15 as opposed to the "official" HP robes which were $40. Then I showed her a witch hat for $4.99, saying that was the cheapest hat we had (and it was a fairly decent hat). And still they wandered around the store for 15 minutes to "see if they could find something cheaper" (and of course never did buy anything)

I felt like saying "but I just showed you the cheapest stuff we had" but I didn't since who knows they may have found something that, combined with stuff they had at home may have worked. But still - there is no way you'd find enough to make a whole costume for less than $5. If she had enough stuff that she just needed 1 extra accessory for that cheap then she had a decent enough costume to pass in the first place.

And that was a purely pointless post for ranting purposes only.

I don't mind. I like reading rants. ^^ Even better when they're from my friends.
